Our Christmas Getaway

This year the holidays where really getting to the me hustle and bustle, work, building this new brand and blog and 4 days before Christmas I had enough! I was miserable at work all day long and then got home and just broke down. Thankfully the lord blessed me with an incredible man and he suggested going away for Christmas, it was an idea I mentioned the week prior saying every Christmas starting next year we should go somewhere we haven't ever been and just create memories together, and so we did. Wednesday morning he found a little condo in a harbor we had yet to stay in and booked it for the girls (our cats) and us!

Thursday, we had the thought to get matching PJ's to wear on Christmas and went to target to find 2 pairs on matching pants in a mens large so we got both and then picked out some rock n roll tee shrits to go with! Nothing fancy or like you see with all the families matching on the gram but fun for us, and it was fun being in target trying to pick out matching shirts!

Friday, Christmas Eve I had to work until noon so he dropped me off came home got the girls packed up the car and then came back and got me. On our way out we made sure to stop and get Cinnabons and Jenny's Cookies (if you follow on the gram you know how much we love these cookies (way better than that other pink box cookie company!)). It was also this day that I realized how bad my body needed this getaway! I had an upset stomach starting on Tuesday it would come and go but nothing that was bothering me to bad, Friday it hit me so hard and I will spare details but it sucked by the time we got to the little town before boarding our ferry ride I was in a ball and really wondering if this was a good idea. We got the groceries we needed and got on the ferry and thank god we parked right next to one of the deck bathrooms. The ferry ride was an hour and half, about 30 minutes out the pain was so real and I thought that we were going to need to pull into the emergency room, but I took a nap and woke up not feeling as terrible, I think the few saltines, gatorade and pepto had finally kicked in.

We got to Roche Harbor around 6pm on Friday night and were both pretty tired from the week of work, so stretched out on the couch and turned on freeform to have all the old Christmas classics playing!

Christmas morning we woke up to a white Christmas and it was so beautiful! We made our cinnamon rolls and my stomach was still bothering me but not like anything the day prior, we spent the morning just lounging and watching the girls play with their new toys (yes they get the little toy stockings from the pet store filled with toys!). We then put them in their backpacks and went for a walk along the harbor enjoying the fresh air and snow. While on our walk the little church had its bells play Christmas music and it was so beautiful, it was the first time all season that it felt like Christmas! We got back and started our Santa Claus movie marathon, I fell asleep and woke up feeling even better. After all the Santa Clauses we had to watch TBS showing of A Christmas Story in which I took a second nap :) like I said my body was done! The girls loved all the lounging as its not a normal thing for us we are constantly on the go and pushing to turn dreams into our reality, forgetting to rest until it has us knocked down physically!

My husband took this picture and when I asked him he was like you just looked so peaceful and I thought you might like it to talk about how important it is to rest and not have it literally have you in a ball to finally do it. Boy does he know me well!

We had a nice steak dinner and had a Home Alone movie marathon to finish out our Christmas day!

It was such a relaxing weekend, it was so nice to just have the time with my husband and not feeling like we were driving all over the country constantly watching the clock to get to everyone that day. We are making plan to celebrate with family but it was so nice to just getaway and relax really enjoying the real meaning behind the season and to not have the stress.

We left when the sun was up Sunday morning as the PNW got lots of snow and we weren't sure how the roads where going to be, thankfully we made it home safe and sound!
