Week 3 of Training in the Books- First Reward!

3 weeks are in the books and I can not believe it! These past 21 days have flown by and I cant believe we are just under 100 days until the race weekend kicks off and its going to be here before I know it!.

This week we knocked out getting all the costumes for the races ordered, and you guys I can not wait to show you what we are doing! Stay tuned ;)

This week we had 5 runs, so let's break this week down!

Monday like always was a rest day, so I took advantage and did active recovery, focusing on lengthening and flexibility.

Tuesday was our 3 miles, it was a quick one and I felt great. There wasn't a lot with this run it was get in get out and get it done.

Wednesday we logged some tempo miles, again you will find this week everything was just kinda in the motion. It wasnt hard, but there was just a mentality of just get in and get them logged. The 14 miles were lingering and I just kept focusing on that all week long.

Thursday was 3, I heard my watch go off and I knew that it was around the 3 mile mark so I didn't look and I stopped my watch without looking (face palm) I did finish out the point .11 with my cool down.

Friday I focused on getting a good upper body workout in knowing that we would have 4 on Saturday followed by the 14 on Sunday and I was nervous about it. More nervous than I have been lately.

Saturday morning was 4 miles, these were hard you guys! I went out way to fast, like sub9 mile fast, we came to mile 1-2.5 and it was all up hill which killed my breathing after flying the first mile! Cue panic, Friday I knew that I wasnt hydrating the best and that was causing some of the cramping, and my breathing was also exhausted. At the end of this run the nerves for 14 went up even more. I shared this on my Instagram but these runs have been going so well and I havent struggled mentally like I did previously and I am TERRIFIED that the mental side will hit me come race weekend when I am running solo and I wont handle it well. I made sure to drink all the water and liquid IV, and fueled with my fave a 5guys burger and fries, y'all it seriously is the best night before meal, I always run well when I have a burger and fries the night before!

Sunday was the long run and it went really well. I had my hubs with me and we had great conversation, the run felt easy (which yayyy thats how long runs are suppose to go). I focused on my fuel and did a GU at mile 4, and a caffeine one at 8, that mile 8 one gave me LIFE! If you haven't had a caffeine fuel during a long run try it! I also used a 2:1 interval from 7-14 after doing the first 7 at race pace, over all i was so happy with this run! After it I was so excited to go and get my first reward during this training cycle, which was something to look forward to during this run.

So the reward let's chat about it, something that I do during these long training cycles is do rewards for every 3 weeks that I complete runs. It helps me mentally know that I have a little something to look forward to. This time I wanted to do something to help myself with budgeting while one the trip so every 3 weeks I am treating myself to a $50 Disney gift card. I am purchasing them at Target so I can use my red card and get the 5% off and at the end I will have $300 to spend on merchandise, drinks, snacks and treats while I am there :) Its something that helps me through training and allows for a little extra fun while I am there and not stressing about if I am sticking to the budget I set. Give it a try if you are needing a little something to look forward to while training and to be able to spoil yourself after you accomplish your race!

Week 4 here we come!
